KLM plane stranded in Dubai

Share

Attacks on Iran have left a KLM aircraft stranded in Dubai. The plane had already arrived there and was scheduled to fly back to the Netherlands on Saturday, but that flight can no longer take place. According to a spokesperson, KLM has arranged hotel accommodation for the affected passengers.

The spokesperson was unable to confirm the exact number of passengers involved. She explained that it is not unusual for aircraft to be temporarily unable to return to the Netherlands when flights are suddenly cancelled. The aircraft will depart for the Netherlands as soon as conditions are considered safe.

KLM is avoiding the airspace of Iran, Iraq, Israel, and several countries around the Persian Gulf on Saturday. As a result, flights to Tel Aviv, Dubai, Riyadh, and Dammam have been cancelled. The uncertain situation also means it is not yet clear which flights will operate on Sunday.

In Dubai, local authorities have temporarily suspended all flights.
