KLM will not fly to Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam for the time being

Share

KLM is temporarily stopping flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv and several destinations in Saudi Arabia. This decision follows the attacks on Iran and the country’s retaliatory actions. The suspension was originally set to last until Thursday, but chief executive Marjan Rintel said on the radio programme Sven op 1 that the measure is being extended. “We can only fly if it’s safe,” she said.

Rintel added that the suspension will not affect other KLM routes to Asia, Africa or the United States.

KLM announced on Sunday that it would not operate flights to Dubai or to the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Dammam until 5 March. One day earlier, the airline had already said it would temporarily avoid the airspace of Iran, Iraq and Israel. It would also avoid several countries around the Persian Gulf.
