Odido would not say whether the stolen data contained sensitive information about victims of domestic violence or stalking. “No statements can be made about this”, said an Odido spokesperson, citing ongoing investigations.
People who feel unsafe are urged to contact the police. Odido says affected individuals will be checked to determine whether their data was published and can be assisted in obtaining a new phone number if requested. The spokesperson did not say whether any such requests had been received.
According to Odido, personal data from 6.2 million accounts has been stolen by the hacker group ShinyHunters. The data set includes names, addresses, and account numbers. The hacker group demanded payment, which was refused.
