Online supermarket and delivery service Picnic is urging customers not to eat a batch of premium beef bavette supplied by ’t Slagershuys. Tests found the product may contain harmful STEC bacteria, a type of E. coli.
Picnic said routine product checks discovered Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). Consuming food contaminated with this bacterium can cause serious illness, particularly for people with weakened immune systems.
The warning applies to the 500-gram pack of premium beef bavette with EAN code 8719218025201 and a best-before date of February 1, 2028.
Customers who have already eaten the product and are experiencing health issues are advised to contact their GP.
