Police removed a website statement suggesting that criminals may have stolen login passwords in the Odido breach. On Monday, they launched a webpage for customers to check whether their data had been compromised. The page initially claimed that passwords were also stolen.
Odido had earlier confirmed that criminals accessed personal information, including names, home addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and bank account numbers. The company said that login credentials were not affected. An Odido spokesperson said the company contacted the police about the incorrect wording, and the site was then updated.
The police have not yet commented on the change.
