Residents pitch nineteen ideas to boost inclusion

Share

Nineteen innovative ideas were presented to help Eindhoven achieve its goal of becoming a more inclusive city during the recent Burst Your Bubble pitch night. Burst your bubble aims to build bridges between different people, cultures, and life experiences. The pitch night is part of Burst Your Bubble, an initiative that organises programmes focused on connection and dialogue.

The goal is to bring together international residents and locals, two groups that often live side by side in the fast-growing city. Ineke Hurkmans of the Jump Movement Foundation designed this programme. Since the programme began, it has reached more than 900 residents. Approximately half of these participants have an international background. The next gathering will take place on 23 February at De Hangar in Meerhoven.

Award-winning initiatives

The jury and the audience selected three projects and each received 5,000 euros to bring their concepts to life.

  • Open Space Classroom: Created by Marjolein Gravendeel, Sneha Rani, and Wilma Hartmann, focuses on a learning environment based on equality and shared ownership.
  • VIPLab, developed by Peter Meulenman and Gerard Kwak, is a makerspace designed specifically for visually-impaired people.
  • Between Strangers: Eindhoven: A podcast by Carine Visagie that shares personal stories to connect residents who might otherwise never meet.
