The Belgian indoor sports amusement park company Sparkx is expanding into the Netherlands. The firm has signed a lease agreement to open a new site at De Beursfabriek in Nieuwegein. Covering over 7,500 square metres, it will immediately become the largest indoor sports amusement park in Europe, according to the company’s announcement.
According to Sparkx, visitors will soon be able to try out around fifty sports. The offerings range from traditional sports like basketball to lesser-known disciplines such as wingsuiting. Visitors can also experience the sensation of flying without a parachute by using a simulator.
The opening is scheduled for next autumn. The move into the Netherlands is expected to create 125 full-time and part-time jobs.
Sparkx opened its first sports park in Belgium less than three years ago. Following the launch in Hasselt, a second site opened last year in Ghent, and a third is due to open soon in Antwerp. Sparkx reports that its locations have already welcomed more than half a million visitors.
