The Voting Guide has gone online in 258 municipalities in the run-up to the municipal elections on 18 March. The tool is tailored to local parties and to the issues that matter in each municipality.
The StemWijzer contains around thirty statements. These were developed together with local journalists working for DPG Media titles, including AD, NU.nl, De Stentor, Het Parool, De Gelderlander, Brabants Dagblad, and Tubantia. Voters can complete the guide through these media outlets. “This way, StemWijzer reaches voters where they are informed about their own municipality at the right moment before the elections,” said ProDemos, the organisation behind StemWijzer.
Many municipalities choose to use only one voting aid. The Voting Compass is in use in 49 other municipalities.
A total of 340 out of 342 municipalities will take part in the elections. Wijdemeren will merge with Hilversum next year. Residents of both municipalities will therefore vote for the new council of the merged municipality in November.
The special municipalities of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba are not taking part in these elections. The Caribbean Netherlands will hold Island Council elections on 27 March 2027, alongside the Provincial Council elections.
