A few hundred people at pacifist demonstration at Malieveld

Share

A few hundred people gathered on Saturday afternoon at the Malieveld in The Hague to protest against the war in Iran. They urged the Dutch government to support de‑escalation, diplomacy, and political solutions instead of military action.

The New Peace Movement, a pacifist platform, organised the demonstration. The group wants the government to follow Spain’s example and speak out clearly against the war. They also call on the Netherlands to press Israel and the United States to stop their attacks at once and follow international law.

A reporter at the scene saw several Iranian flags and one Palestinian flag.

On the other side of the Malieveld, another group celebrated the birthday of former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte. Authorities in The Hague hold him in custody for his violent anti‑drug campaign, which led to thousands of deaths.
