Ramon Amaro has resigned as creative director of Design Academy Eindhoven, just five months after taking up the position. Amaro succeeded former creative director Joseph Grima in September. His appointment came at an important time for the academy, as preparations continue for its move to a new location in the Kanaalzone. His resignation takes immediate effect and hence not be involved in the relocation. The Design Academy has not provided the reasons for the premature termination of the contract.
However, the DAE Supervisory Board said it respects Amaro’s decision and will soon begin the selection process for a new creative director. A decision is expected in the coming months. Until then, Executive Board Chair Raf De Keninck will take on Amaro’s duties, supported by the academy’s management team.
