D66 leader Rob Jetten is pleased with the agreement he has reached with Dilan Yeşilgöz (VVD) and Henri Bontenbal (CDA). Shortly after the three party leaders had reached an agreement on the main lines, Jetten said the parties would withhold announcing their plans until Friday.
In recent days, the negotiators have put in long hours, because they wanted to complete the process quickly. According to Jetten, “Ultimately, it is one of the fastest formations of recent decades.”
“We are really looking forward to getting started. The three of us are going to do it and we are going to work together with other parties,” Jetten said.
Constructive drawing up
VVD leader Dilan Yeşilgöz is pleased that “parties broadly in the House want to be constructive”, and: “I’m counting on that too.” As far as her D66 colleague is concerned, the proposals should be able to count on “broad political support”. For this they seek cooperation, “sometimes more with right-wing parties, sometimes with left-wing parties.”
Bontenbal is confident it can govern this way. “If we thought it couldn’t work, we wouldn’t start either,” the CDA leader said.
