Eindhoven Library launches sign language pilot

Share

The Eindhoven Region Library aims to be a welcoming space for every visitor. Recognising that this is not currently the case for everyone, the library is launching a pilot programme this spring to provide sign language interpreters at various events. This initiative will enable people with auditory challenges to fully participate in library workshops and lectures.

The library focuses on meeting people, making discoveries, and sharing experiences. “Everyone should feel welcome,” says Carol, a programme maker at the Eindhoven Region Library. She explains that the pilot is designed to explore how the organisation can make its activities accessible to a wider audience.

The programme begins on 20 February with a workshop for children. It will continue throughout March and April with several events designed for adults. By introducing sign language interpreters, the library aims to identify which methods are most effective, gather feedback from visitors, and identify new ways to improve long-term accessibility.

With this pilot, the Eindhoven Library aims to demonstrate that it is there for everyone: children and adults, hearing and non-hearing people. Everyone is welcome to visit, participate and experience together what inclusive culture means.
