Eindhoven political factions demand more ladies’ toilets for carnival

Share

Ten political parties in Eindhoven have called for a significant increase in public toilets during the upcoming carnival. In a joint letter to the city council, the factions highlighted that women often faced queues of up to thirty minutes last year. The parties, which include the PvdA, GroenLinks, VVD, and D66 among others, argue that the city currently lacks sufficient facilities for major events.

The groups pointed to neighbouring cities like Tilburg and Breda as examples of places that manage toilet facilities more effectively during public holidays. They have asked the council to place extra toilets for women throughout the city centre and are advocating for some of these facilities to be free of charge.

In addition to standard toilets, the parties are requesting mobile facilities specifically designed for people with physical disabilities. They are also calling for the introduction of gender-neutral toilets for carnival, King’s Day, and other large-scale celebrations. The carnival festivities in Eindhoven, also known as Lampegat during the event, begin next Friday and continue until Tuesday.
