Emergency services hit by nationwide system disruption

Share

A nationwide disruption to the emergency services’ control room system is causing delays on Saturday afternoon. Callers may find it takes longer than usual to reach an operator when dialling 112. The non-emergency police number is also more difficult to reach, according to a police spokesperson. Technical teams are currently working to find a solution to the problem.

The Rotterdam-Rijnmond Safety Region confirmed that, although 112 remains reachable, response times are slower nationwide. A crisis team has been convened to manage the situation. Officials advise the public to stay on the line and keep trying if they need assistance.

Control rooms can still dispatch emergency vehicles, but the disruption has affected the standard automated systems. Dispatchers are currently using backup systems and manual coordination to send help where it is needed. This process requires more time and direct communication than usual.
