Emergency services were deployed in the Technical University Eindhoven (TU/e) campus on Monday afternoon following a suspected hazardous substance incident. The event occurred in the building used by the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. It is not yet clear how the situation began.
There is a suspicion that a student may have created a nerve agent and come into contact with the substance inside a sealed room. One person is believed to have been affected by the exposure. The victim’s current condition remains unknown.
Those present in the building were evacuated to safety. According to a local emergency correspondent, this is the second such incident at the department building in a short period.
