The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is postponing a KLM repatriation flight from Oman to Amsterdam until further notice due to the current security situation. The flight was due to depart from Muscat at 12:45 a.m. on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, a Corendon repatriation flight was also delayed due to security concerns. A spokesperson for the ministry said it was unclear what had changed but noted that other countries were cancelling flights as well. “The safety of Dutch citizens is paramount in the repatriation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the security situation hour by hour, together with the airlines involved,” she said.
The ministry has informed travellers booked on the KLM flight and is working to rebook them. The Dutch embassy in Muscat will accommodate them, as it is doing for the Corendon passengers.
Another repatriation flight from Oman landed at Schiphol on Saturday morning. That KLM aircraft carried 281 people, including 263 Dutch nationals.
