The international spirit of the Brainport region was on full display this week as a group of carnival novices joined the festivities in full costume. Among them were Meghna and Rajesh, originally from Bangalore, who fully immersed themselves in the vibrant energy of the Brabant streets. For Meghna, this marked her very first experience of the traditional Dutch celebration.
Meghna expressed her excitement at the unique atmosphere, noting that the high-energy environment was a perfect introduction to local life. “The carnival vibes are incredible, and the energy is so infectious,” Rajesh gushes “I am really looking forward to being a part of this and finding more ways to mingle with the local community.”
For others in the group, such as Karthik and Rakshitha, also from Bangalore, the event represented more than just a party. While they admitted they do not yet feel fully integrated into Dutch society, they saw the carnival as a vital bridge to a deeper sense of community. “This is a great opportunity to feel like we belong here,” they shared. The celebration provided a rare moment where cultural barriers were lowered, allowing everyone to share in the collective madness of the season.
