PSV celebrates third consecutive title with massive Eindhoven parade

Share

The PSV squad and staff arrived at the Eindhoven city hall balcony shortly after 18:00 to celebrate their third consecutive national title. Thousands of fans packed the square in a sea of red and white while lighting numerous flares. Although the municipality had issued a fireworks ban, several loud bangs still echoed through the crowd.

Mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem greeted the players individually as they entered the building. Consequently, the official ceremony started thirty minutes behind schedule. Meanwhile, supporters had been filling the square since early afternoon to chant for their champions.

The festivities began at 13:30 with a stage programme featuring singer Guus Meeuwis. Furthermore, fans gathered at various sites across the city to watch the event on large screens. Before reaching the city hall, the team received the championship trophy at Philips Stadium. Following this presentation, they toured the city streets on an open-top trailer.

Eindhoven officials prepared for a crowd of 100,000 supporters. While the city has not yet released final figures, a spokesperson for the mayor confirmed that the turnout likely reached that estimate.
