THE HAGUE (ANP) – 29 passengers from the cruise ship MV Hondius, affected by the hantavirus, will fly from Tenerife to Eindhoven on Sunday according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken). Among them are both Dutch nationals and people from other countries.
The ship is expected to arrive in Tenerife early Sunday morning. Then the passengers and part of the crew will be brought ashore. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “On shore, the passengers will be led directly to buses and driven to the airport”. Dutch government employees are assisting with the operation on the Spanish island.
Dutch passengers must self-quarantine for six weeks after their return per Minister Sophie Hermans (Public Health, VVD). People from other countries may also be accommodated. Part of the crew will remain on the ship to sail it to the Netherlands. They will subsequently go into quarantine as well said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
