Air conditioner demand surges across the Netherlands

Demand for air conditioners has risen sharply since last week, according to Techniek Nederland. The installation trade association says installers now receive up to four times as many requests as they did in previous weeks.

Annual sales of air conditioners have topped 250,000 units every year since 2020. The association views this trend as expected. An expert explains that Dutch summers continue to warm, with temperatures reaching tropical levels this week. They note that air conditioners have now become a common feature in Dutch homes.

By the end of this year, the total number of installed air conditioners should reach between 2.4 and 2.5 million. Homes account for around 80 percent of these systems, while offices and other buildings hold the remainder.
