Amsterdam-based start-up Blue Health Intelligence has raised €3.4 million in a new investment round. The company offers one-hour health checks that include a range of physical measurements, followed by an immediate consultation with a doctor to discuss the results.
“It is our goal for a periodic health check to become just as normal as a visit to the dentist,” said co-founder and doctor Leanne Verdonck.
According to a company press release, Blue Health Intelligence will use the new funding to expand in the Netherlands and internationally, while also further developing its health platform. The latest investment follows an earlier funding round that raised more than €1 million.
“In countries such as Japan, Germany and England, periodic health checks are already part of the healthcare system, but unfortunately not yet in the Netherlands,” said chief executive and co-founder Onno Huyghe.
Before launching Blue Health Intelligence, Huyghe worked at bicycle subscription service Swapfiets and energy supplier Tibber. He said the company aims to make preventive healthcare more accessible. A health check at Blue costs €299.
Founded last year, the start-up also sees growth opportunities abroad, particularly in Italy and France. The company expects to open a location in either Paris or Milan during the first half of next year.
Blue Health Intelligence currently operates a single location in Amsterdam.
