Diesel became slightly more expensive at the pump on Saturday. The increase followed Friday’s jump of more than 10 euro cents. Consumer collective UnitedConsumers says the national recommended price for a litre of diesel now stands at 2.799 euros, up from 2.793 euros on Friday.
The recommended price for Euro95 remains 2.595 euros per litre. That price rose by more than 2 euro cents on Friday. Many motorists still pay less than the recommended rate, as fuel stations along motorways are the ones that usually charge it.
Fuel prices have reached record levels during the war in the Middle East. Iran has almost closed the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers and other vessels. Energy facilities in the region also face frequent attacks from Iran, the United States, and Israel.
