IKEA Duiven closed due to internet problem on busy Easter Monday

Share

IKEA closed its Duiven store on Monday after a nearby internet cable broke. The damage caused major system failures in the Gelderland branch. The closure is a setback for the chain, as Easter Monday usually brings many visitors to home furnishing centres.

A spokesperson said the store’s systems stopped working because the internet went down. He explained that the cable problem did not start at Ikea, but the company still faces heavy disruption. He hopes the store can reopen on Tuesday, although he cannot confirm this.

All other Ikea stores opened as normal on Monday. According to the chain, they were “pleasantly busy”. The spokesperson added that the good weather likely encouraged many people to choose other activities instead of furniture shopping.
