KLM increases ticket prices for long-haul flights

Share

KLM is raising the prices of return tickets on long-haul flights by 50 euros due to the increased price of airline fuel. The price increase has been in effect since Wednesday for Economy Class seats on both the Dutch airline and its partner, Air France. According to a spokesperson, the price increase does not yet apply to return tickets on subsidiary Transavia.

The war in the Middle East has caused oil and fuel prices to rise sharply. The price of kerosene, a significant portion of which comes from that region, is over 70 percent higher than a month earlier. Airlines are therefore deciding to pass the cost increase on to ticket prices.

The Scandinavian airline SAS also announced a temporary price increase.
