The new public transport pass is now available to buy in physical shops, according to the card issuer Translink. This new card is part of the “OVpay” system, which is replacing the current chip cards for buses, trams and trains before they are completely phased out at the end of next year. Under the new system, passengers can also just tap in and out using their bank card or mobile phone.
Previously, the new passes could only be bought online or at select transport ticket offices. From Friday, they will also be stocked in 550 Primera shops, making it much easier for people who are less comfortable using the internet to pick one up. As an extra benefit for these customers, the passes bought in-store can also be topped up using cash.
