Next week, no trains between Rotterdam and the south for four days

Next week, from Tuesday 21 July to Friday 24 July, no trains will run between Rotterdam and Zwijndrecht. NS says ProRail will carry out work on that route during those days. As a result, no trains will run south of Rotterdam, and fewer trains will operate between The Hague and Rotterdam.

During the four days, ProRail contractors will replace the train safety system. This system controls the operation of signals and switches, but it is outdated. Workers will also remove several switches.

The works will also affect international train traffic. EuroCity and EuroCity Direct will depart from Breda to Brussels. The Eurostar will depart only from Amsterdam and Antwerp via Utrecht, bypassing Rotterdam Centraal.

Earlier this month, trains also stopped running between Rotterdam and the south. Train traffic remained suspended for more than a week after a fire damaged a cable duct.
