Fewer trains will run on several routes across the Netherlands on Monday and Tuesday, but the overall impact is expected to be limited, according to Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). The disruptions mainly affect routes in the Randstad region.
The rail operator said heavy rainfall on Sunday disrupted train services and caused faults at several railway switches. Overnight storms also brought down trees and branches onto the tracks in multiple locations. Moreover, lightning strikes affected rail traffic around Gouda. “These problems cannot be repaired before the start of train services,” NS said.
On Monday and Tuesday, fewer Intercity services will operate on the different routes. These routes are between Den Haag Centraal and Utrecht Centraal, Den Haag Centraal and Amsterdam Centraal, Utrecht Centraal and Rotterdam Centraal, Rotterdam Centraal and Schiphol Airport, Arnhem Centraal and Alkmaar, and Alkmaar and Haarlem.
Fewer Sprinter services will also run between Gouda Goverwelle and Den Haag Centraal.
