King’s day party goers and commuters have once again left a lot of mess behind. NS has removed seven train sets from the schedule because they were too dirty to be used. “Passengers may still experience inconvenience in the coming days”, reports the transport company.
“The Netherlands celebrated King’s Day exuberantly again yesterday. Unfortunately, this led to a lot of filth on the trains. Much of it is waste, such as cans and food packaging and also a lot of vomit”, reads a statement from the NS.
Most of the cleaning was completed during the night from Monday to Tuesday. Around 100 extra cleaners will continue to be active this week. The focus will be on the sticky floors and messy carriages.
NS asks travellers for their understanding if they are on a train. The rail company also has a strong message to the party goers: “Clean up your mess from now on”.
