Open House Day attracts 52,000 visitors, more than last time

Around 52,000 people viewed homes for sale on Saturday during the NVM Open House Day, the real estate association reported. The figure marks an increase from the October edition, which attracted 45,000 visitors.

Participants could visit about 8,900 homes that opened their doors for the event. These properties accounted for 18 percent of all listings on Funda. A year ago, the spring edition drew 42,000 visitors to 6,100 homes.

“The number of participating homes and the number of visitors are both clearly increasing,” said Benedikte Zijlstra, real estate agent and board member of NVM-Wonen. She noted that supply continues to grow, although prices remain high, especially in and around the Randstad.

Major cities led the event. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague topped the list, partly because many former rental properties entered the market. Eindhoven, Arnhem, and Enschede followed. In total, owners opened more than 6,000 houses and nearly 2,900 apartments to the public.

The average asking price of participating homes reached 617,000 euros. In most major cities, prices ranged between roughly 550,000 and 650,000 euros. Amsterdam stood out with an average asking price of 800,000 euros. A total of 667 participating homes carried a price tag above one million euros. According to the NVM, cities outside the Randstad, including Enschede, still offer “relatively affordable alternatives”.

On average, each home welcomed 5.8 visitors, slightly more than the 5.3 recorded in October. The NVM noted that the previous edition took place during very autumnal weather. The next NVM Open House Day will take place on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
