For the first time since 16 June, the temperature in De Bilt has failed to exceed 20 degrees. As a result, the record streak of consecutive warm days, defined as days with temperatures above 20 degrees, is restricted at 64. According to Weeronline, Wednesday’s maximum reached 19.7 degrees, ending the run.
The previous record, set in 2018, stood at 60 consecutive warm days and was already surpassed last Saturday. The year 2026 has also been exceptional in other respects. De Bilt has recorded 35 summer days so far (above 25 degrees) and eleven tropical days (above 30 degrees). Temperatures above 35 degrees have occurred only twice this year, a rare event for the region.
Since January, De Bilt has logged 85 warm days in total. In a typical year, the station averages 97 warm days. With September still ahead, meteorologists expect several additional warm days to be added to the tally.
