The KNMI has issued a yellow weather warning for Saturday evening, predicting severe thunderstorms across the entirety of the Netherlands.
The weather institute warns that the storms could bring torrential downpours, large hailstones between two and five centimetres in size, and destructive wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour, threatening localized damage and travel disruption.
The warning follows a period of extreme heat that previously triggered an amber alert, with Friday officially breaking records as the warmest 26 June ever recorded in the country.
