Oil prices

Oil prices have risen further following attacks on key energy facilities in the Middle East. Missiles struck Qatar's main gas production site. At the pump in the Netherlands, recommended prices for petrol and diesel continued to rise above €2.50 for a litre.

The average petrol price in the Netherlands has climbed above €2.50 per litre, nearing a record last seen in 2022. Rising oil prices, linked to conflict in the Middle East and shipping disruptions, are also pushing up diesel costs. Motorists may still find lower prices away from motorway petrol stations.

The US stock market climbed back into positive territory after President Donald Trump announced that the conflict with Iran was nearing an end. Oil prices, which had surged earlier in the day, fell sharply following his remarks. Investors shifted their focus back to corporate performance, pushing several major companies higher.
