Tropical heat and thunderstorms expected from Thursday

Share

Weeronline expects tropical temperatures to arrive from Thursday, with muggy conditions and a risk of severe thunderstorms.

Thursday will stay dry, with temperatures reaching about 25°C in the north and 27°C in the centre of the country. In the south, temperatures could already rise to around 30°C.

Friday will be hotter, with tropical conditions expected across most of the country. The highest temperatures are forecast in Limburg and eastern Brabant, where it could reach around 33°C. High humidity will make the air feel oppressive and may lead to heavy showers and thunderstorms.

The night from Friday to Saturday will remain warm, with temperatures not dropping below 18°C. “For many people, this means reduced sleep,” the weather bureau said. It also warned of heat stress due to the warm nights and high humidity. “This means the heat puts stress on the body and increases the risk of overheating or sunstroke.”

Over the weekend, temperatures will ease slightly, with maximums between 25°C and 30°C, making it less hot than on Friday.
