Willem van der Leegte, the President and CEO of VDL Group, has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of Eindhoven Airport. His term will begin on 28 March 2026, following a nomination by the Municipality of Eindhoven, one of the airport’s key shareholders.
Van der Leegte is a prominent figure in the local business community with deep roots in the region. He highlighted the airport’s strategic importance as a gateway for the increasingly international Brainport area. He also noted that the airport must navigate significant social and environmental issues affecting local residents.
“In my role as a supervisor, I would like to make a meaningful contribution to the development of our regional airport, while ensuring a healthy balance with the interests of the surrounding community,” Van der Leegte said.
He succeeds Carlo van Kemenade, who is stepping down from the board after completing eight years of service. Van der Leegte has been appointed for an initial four-year term.
