Share

ASML Chief Executive Christophe Fouquet met Prime Minister Rob Jetten in the Hague yesterday to discuss the strategic importance of the semiconductor industry. The prime minister’s official LinkedIn handle announced that the meeting focused on the Eindhoven region’s essential role in the global technology market.

During the talks, the Prime Minister described ASML’s economic impact on the Eindhoven area and the wider Netherlands as highly significant. The discussion highlighted a high-level commitment to ensuring the country remains a leader in the global chip sector.

A key topic was the collaboration between the government and the private sector to improve the business climate. This is particularly important as the region grows through large-scale projects such as Project Beethoven. The leaders also addressed the European technology agenda and the importance of semiconductors for European sovereignty.

Both Jetten and Fouquet agreed that their goal is to ensure that Dutch infrastructure, talent, and regulations remain competitive globally. The Prime Minister noted that the government fully recognises the Brainport ecosystem as the country’s primary technological hub.
