The parties forming the Dutch government will continue talks on the national budget on Friday after failing to reach an agreement on Thursday evening, insiders have told news agency ANP. Prime Minister Rob Jetten, Deputy Prime Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz, Christian Democratic Appeal leader Henri Bontenbal and Finance Minister Eelco Heinen are set to resume negotiations.
The political parties face a strict deadline, as a final budget must be ready by September 1 to be submitted to the Council of State for review ahead of Prinsjesdag. This gives the politicians until Monday evening to finalise the financial plans. Sources indicate that no draft budget is currently available for discussion in the Council of Ministers on Friday morning.
