Firefighters bring blaze under control near A44 motorway

A large fire that broke out early on Saturday morning at a property on Lisserweg in Weteringbrug has been brought under control. The Kennemerland safety region confirmed that emergency services successfully prevented the flames from spreading to two nearby houses on the same plot of land.

Debris from the fire has landed in the neighbouring village of Nieuwe Wetering. The local safety region has advised residents that these burnt remnants can be safely washed away with water.

Although the fire is now under control, a significant amount of smoke is still rising from the scene. The ANWB traffic information service warned that drivers on the A44 motorway, which runs close to the incident, may experience disruption. As a result, the motorway slip roads at Oude Wetering remain closed to traffic.
