The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued travel advice for Dutch nationals who want to leave the West Bank. The ministry says travellers can leave via Jordan, where the airspace remains open. Another option is to fly from Israel, although its airspace is only partially open.
To reach Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, travellers must cross overland. Of the three border crossings into Jordan, two require travel through Israel. For these routes, travellers need a passport valid for at least three months and a visa. In southern Israel, the border crossing into Egypt remains open.
The ministry warns that the security situation in the area is unpredictable. Shrapnel or debris from rockets may fall. Flights can be cancelled, border crossings and checkpoints may close suddenly, and opening hours may change without notice.
Several diplomatic missions have closed because of the violence in the Middle East, including the Dutch embassy in Ramallah in the Palestinian territories.
