The Party for the Animals (Partij voor de Dieren) or PvdD defines itself by its mission to shift the political agenda. While many parties focus on the short-term interests of their voters, the PvdD takes a long-term view that spans centuries. This perspective drives a deep sense of responsibility for decisive action on climate change, clean air, and clean water.
The party believes a healthy ecosystem is a non-negotiable requirement for a functioning society. Its primary ambition is to transition towards a sustainable economy within a healthy planet. Although originally founded to protect animal rights, the party now applies an empathetic framework to all political topics. This approach prioritises general well-being over financial interests in areas such as migration, industrial pollution, and urban design.
Despite holding only two seats in the current city council, the PvdD has proven remarkably effective. The party has submitted and passed more motions and amendments per representative than any other group, significantly impacting local decision-making.

For the next four years, the PvdD plans to build on these ambitions. Key priorities include:
- Banning advertisements for polluting products in public spaces based on scientific research.
- Redesigning the city to favour cyclists and pedestrians over cars.
- Fighting to reduce the environmental impact of Eindhoven Airport.
- Managing the growth of ASML to match the city’s actual capacity.
The party views the current rapid expansion of the tech sector as a threat to the region’s social structure, as rising costs push low-income residents out of the city. Moving forward, the PvdD will continue to advocate for animal welfare and a political compass rooted in humanity.
