Scandinavian airline SAS is temporarily increasing ticket prices to cover the rising cost of aviation fuel. The higher fuel expenses are linked to the war in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. These developments have pushed oil prices sharply upwards.
A SAS spokesperson told Reuters on Tuesday that the airline had introduced a temporary price adjustment. This was due to the unusually rapid and significant rise in jet fuel costs. He said the company normally tries to absorb fluctuations, but added: “While we always try to absorb cost fluctuations where possible, increases of this magnitude make it necessary to respond in order to maintain stable and reliable operations.”
