The AEX index started Friday in the red as investors took a break following a strong two-day rally. All eyes are now on China, where US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping are finishing their two-day summit.
While Trump teased “fantastic trade deals,” he hasn’t shared any specific details yet. He mentioned that China might buy American oil and help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, though he also warned that he is losing patience with Iran.
Shortly after the market opened, the Amsterdam index fell 0.9 per cent to 1,012.60 points. This small drop comes after the index gained over 2 per cent earlier in the week, thanks to good news from ABN AMRO and big jumps for chipmakers like ASML, ASMI, and Besi.
