Albert Heijn is resuming home grocery deliveries today following a fortnight-long outage, albeit at significantly reduced capacity. The supermarket giant expects to manage roughly a third of its typical order volumes as operations gradually recover from a major cybersecurity disruption.
An initial cohort of loyal customers was granted access to the ordering system on Thursday. A company spokesperson confirmed that initial morning deliveries commenced at 07:00 as planned, though warned that existing slot times may temporarily shift due to capacity constraints. Everyday staples—including milk, yoghurt, bread, fresh produce, and kitchen roll—are already seeing high demand. Customers affected by prior cancellations are being issued store credit, whilst parent firm Ahold Delhaize continues to liaise with police regarding the security breach that forced its digital systems offline.
