Amsterdam’s AEX index extended its record rally on Friday morning, supported by strong gains from data providers RELX and Wolters Kluwer, which both jumped around 3%. European market sentiment was lifted by Wall Street’s overnight record high on the S&P 500, driven by growing investor confidence that the US Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady in September.
Shortly after the opening bell, the main index nudged up 0.3% to 1,123.44 points, building on Thursday’s record closing mark of 1,119.59 points. Elsewhere on the Damrak, the MidKap index added 0.4% to reach 1,134.51 points, while Frankfurt’s DAX gained 0.6% and markets in Paris and London opened virtually flat.
