AI is driving growth in tech hiring

As organisations increasingly adopt AI tools, many are expanding their technology teams to support growth, scale services, and develop new revenue streams. The findings suggest that AI is changing the nature of technology jobs rather than reducing the need for employees. Nearly nine in ten managers surveyed said their organisations are increasing the size of their tech teams to help integrate and manage AI-driven services. However, the report clearly highlights that finding candidates who combine technical AI expertise with business and leadership capabilities remains one of the biggest challenges facing employers today.

Demand for new skills

At the same time, demand for new skills is rising rapidly. Vacancies seeking developers with expertise in generative AI grew by 135 percent last year and more than doubled again during the first half of this year compared with the same period in 2025. The report is based on a global survey of 1,100 senior professionals, combined with data from more than 20 million job postings and approximately 100 million candidate profiles. More than half of employers also reported that hiring for entry-level technology positions has remained stable despite the growing adoption of AI.

Talent Shortage

Persistent talent shortages continue to challenge employers as demand for specialised expertise increases. To address these gaps, many organisations are relying on temporary workers, freelancers, and external specialists. Companies are also increasingly looking beyond their national borders to find qualified talent.

Beyond the routine

As AI takes over more routine tasks, employers are placing greater value on workers who can oversee, manage, and effectively deploy the technology. Beyond technical knowledge, organisations are seeking professionals with strong judgment, communication skills, and an understanding of governance and responsible AI use.
