Airbnb raises revenue as World Cup drives record bookings

Airbnb has raised its full-year revenue guidance for the second time this year, following strong summer travel demand. The rental platform recorded its highest North American growth rate in nearly three years, boosted significantly by the FIFA World Cup.

Bookings rose by 10 percent year-on-year to reach 148.3 million nights and experiences over the past quarter. Alongside North America, the company reported solid growth across key international markets, including France, the UK, and Australia. Quarterly revenue increased 17 percent to $3.6 billion, while net profit reached $816 million.

The World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico during June and July, created a surge in listing supply. Hosts added more than 150,000 new properties across host cities on Airbnb for the first time during the tournament.

Artificial intelligence deployment lowers operational costs

Airbnb reduced customer service expenses by implementing artificial intelligence solutions. Operational costs per booking fell by 16 percent following the introduction of an AI support assistant, with management forecasting further efficiency gains. The company plans to deploy additional AI tools to help users compare listings.

For the full year, Airbnb projects revenue growth of at least 15 percent compared to last year and has upgraded its profit guidance accordingly. Travel competitor Booking Holdings similarly reported strong demand, counteracting earlier industry concerns that regional instability in the Middle East would depress travel volume.
