ASML has committed €100 million to support the future Rijksmuseum Eindhoven. This will strengthen plans for a major new cultural landmark in the city. Under the agreement, the technology company will contribute €5 million annually, over a period of 20 years. The opening is currently scheduled to take place between 2032 and 2034. Construction of the museum is estimated to cost €80 million. Annual operating costs are expected to range between €11 million and €12 million.
Local officials and project stakeholders have welcomed the long-term partnership, describing it as an important example of collaboration between the business and cultural sectors. The investment is also expected to support the museum’s ambition of attracting visitors from both the Netherlands and abroad.
Plans for a Rijksmuseum branch in Eindhoven were first announced in December. The new museum will be located along the Dommel River near Eindhoven Central Station. The museum will feature works from the original Rijksmuseum collection. The project is expected to play a significant role in expanding the cultural offering of the Brainport region while strengthening Eindhoven’s appeal as a destination for residents, tourists, and international visitors.
