Online retailer Bol has warned customers about a data leak involving one of its logistics partners. The company said unauthorised individuals gained access to the partner’s systems and data. Bol stressed that its own systems were not affected. However, customer data may have been viewed or copied, the retailer said in a statement.
The logistics partner acted immediately after discovering the incident. It took steps to stop the unauthorised access and introduced additional security measures.
According to Bol, the incident is affecting part of its logistics operation. Products from Bol and sales partners stored at the affected location have been temporarily taken offline. Some orders have been cancelled, while others may face delays.
Because the incident may involve customers’ personal data, Bol has reported it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
Earlier in the day, department store chain De Bijenkorf also reported a possible data leak. The retailer said the incident likewise involved a logistics partner. As a result, De Bijenkorf is also experiencing delays in processing orders.
