Holiday provider Roan has had sensitive customer data stolen in a data breach. The stolen information includes names, phone numbers, email addresses, destinations, and arrival and departure dates. Roan, based in Breda and offering more than 100 campsites across seven European countries, said that “several other companies in the holiday sector have unfortunately also suffered from this security breach.”
The company confirmed that thieves did not take bank details or home addresses. A similar breach at travel company Sunweb last year alarmed customers, who feared burglars could target their homes while they were away.
Roan said in an email to customers, “We deeply regret the concern this news may cause. We have identified and blocked the source of the incident within our partner’s system.”
A company spokesperson was not immediately available for comment. The same applied to its French parent company, European Camping Group.
