Passengers from the cruise ship Hondius who arrived in Eindhoven on repatriation flights earlier this week have tested negative for the hantavirus. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu-RIVM) confirmed that samples were collected from the travellers immediately upon their arrival.
This latest round of testing involved 26 people who reached the Netherlands during the night between Monday and Tuesday on the second and third evacuation flights.
Despite the negative test results, the RIVM stated that the Dutch passengers must still complete a mandatory six-week quarantine at home. This follows the arrival of the first repatriation flight on Sunday evening. The passengers from that initial flight also tested negative based on the first samples taken when they landed in the Netherlands.
