Dense fog triggers code yellow across the country

The KNMI has issued a yellow weather warning across the whole of the Netherlands due to dense fog, extending an alert that was previously restricted to northern regions. Patches of extremely thick fog are also anticipated in some areas.

Visibility can drop below 200 metres in dense fog, and under 50 metres in very dense conditions. This can create hazardous driving conditions and widespread travel disruption. The current warning remains in place provisionally until 10:00 am on Friday.

Meteorologists expect the fog to lift during the course of the morning.
